DLP 2023 – Day Two Walt Disney Studios Park

As part of our booking we had booked Half Board plus so breakfast was included. At check in we were informed we would be having our breakfasts in Hunters Grill. Like dinner, breakfast was buffet style. So you can help yourself to whatever you wanted, and how much you wanted.

Once breakfast was finished we headed upstairs to meet this mornings hotel character, which today was Goofy. Again Mikey has some pictures of just him and Goofy then we all joined for group pictures.

We then headed to Walt Disney Studios park, and to the area of the park that was also new to Beans and I – Avengers Campus.

We decided our first ride in this new land had to be Web Slingers. This ride is Spider-Man themed, where in the pre-ride show Peter Parker explains the Spider-Bots are multiplying and taking over.

Once in the ride vehicle you have to use your arms to shoot webs at the Spider-Bots to destroy them. While everyone scores, your ride vehicle as a whole gets a group score.

Once we had finished our ride we decided to look around the shop. Mikey and I both got Spider-Bots, which we got shipped back to the hotel so we didn’t have to carry them round all day.

On exiting the shop Spider-Man was on the platform the Quinn Jet was parked on. Mikey was so pleased to see him. It was now coming up to 10am so Beans and I got ready on the app to book the Hero Encounter. Beans managed to get a slot in the Spider-Man hero encounter, with it saying the wait was around 90 minutes.

I really wanted to go on the lands other new ride – Flight Force. This was one Beans wouldn’t go on, and Mikey decided he didn’t want to either, so mum and I went and joined the queue.
Mum felt like her head had got thrown about a bit, but she said she would do it again.

On coming out the exit we were told to stand in a row, we tried to get back to Kit and Mikey but were asked to stay where we were. Suddenly the Wakanda Warriors came out the building near where Kit and Mikey were and while doing a tribal dance came towards where we were stood.

The Warriors them taught some of the children from the audience how to do their tribal dance then went back the way they had came.

As we still had a wait till our Heroic Encounter we decided to we would walk to go on Ratatouille: The Adventure. Mikey loved the idea of riding on a rat like Remy.

On our way to the ride we were asked to stand to one side by security staff. This was due to the fact the cast members strike was on its way. We stood to the side while they marched past. They are striking as they want a higher wage.

Once they had past we headed to the ride, donned our 3D glasses and climbed aboard our rat.

On exiting we saw we had 5 minutes till our Heroic Encounter so headed back to Avengers Campus. We checked in and were soon next in line to meet Spider-Man.

Now I can see why these encounters book up so quickly. The interaction with Spider-Man was fantastic. He got us to do different poses with him. For Mikey this was the best thing ever.

On exiting Iron Man was on the Quinn Jet platform so we got some pictures of him, before going into Stark Factory for some lunch. There is a Hulk-Buster inside the restaurant.

We then headed to watch Mickey and The Magician, thinking it would be nice to sit inside a theatre for a bit, however on getting there we were informed the 1pm showing was cancelled due to the strikes, but advised the one at 2:10pm should be on.

Mum and Mikey decided they wanted to go back to the room and go for a swim, but said to Beans and I to stay in the park. Beans and I went into the animation academy and started watching the drawing class that was going on . We decided we would take part in the next one.

While waiting I got a call from Mikey saying they were lost, when he said where they were it turned out they were outside where Beans and I were so we went out to them.
We decided as a group to have a ride on Cars Quattro Rally, Beans decided he would hold our bags and watch. I tried to record it on our action camera but got told off by a cast member so had to stop.

We then decided to go on Flighting Carpets with Aladdin, mum and Mikey went in the front seats, Beans and I went in the back seats.

We then went to try and see Mickey and the Magician again, but again it had been cancelled. We decide to head back towards the hotel, just before we went into Studio 1 we saw there was a Photopass photographer taking MagicShots in front of the partners statue so we got our photo taken.

We made a quick stop in the Studio 1 shop, where Mikey got a cute Pluto plush, then exited the park and went back to the hotel.

When we got back to the room Beans and I decided we were going to relax for a bit, mum and Mikey went to the swimming pool for a swim.

Once they got back we headed back to the park where Mum and I went on Tower of Terror, I couldn’t persuade Mikey to go on, and it’s another ride Beans won’t go on.

We then headed back into Avengers Campus and to PYM Kitchen where we had dinner booked. Mum and I had cocktails again. You get given a giant pretzel to share, and the food is either large or small. The theming was fun. Unfortunately, Mikey wasn’t keen on any of the food, thankfully mum had food with her that he was happy to sit at the table and eat.

Once dinner was over we headed back to our room, mum and Mikey were tired so went to bed, Beans and I decided to head to the pool to have a swim.

After our swim we headed to the hotel shop to collect our Spider-Bots that had been shipped there, we then had a drink at the Redwood bar, then we headed to the room where we also crashed out for the night.
