DLP 2023 – Day Four Walt Disney Studios Park And Travel Home

Due to everyone having a late night last night for different reasons we had a semi lay-in today. Not getting up and going for breakfast in Hunters Grill until 9am.

While eating breakfast, Matthew, the manager on duty at the hotel today, phoned to see how I was after last night. Beans spoke to him and explained I had broken my wrist and was in a plaster cast. Matthew agreed to extend our room until 3pm, usually check out time is 11am, so we didn’t have to rush and if I needed to rest I had somewhere I could be comfortable.

Beans went back to the room as he decided he didn’t want to carry his bag, and mum, Mikey and I went to meet this mornings character in the hotel, which again was Donald.

Once we had finished having our photos taken we headed to Walt Disney Studios Park, it was slightly slow going as my ankle was still really painful from the night before.

We decided to give Web Slingers one last go, so got in the queue.

Surprisingly I scored better one handed than I had done on the previous attempt using both hands. Our team score was better than our previous ride too.

Mikey decided he wanted some Iron Man hands, so he got those in the shop after the ride, when we went outside Spider-Man was on the Quinn Jet platform again, so Mikey was really pleased as he got to see him again.

Under the platform was the Avengers car, and people were being really good about taking it in turns to get their picture in front of it.

On exiting Avengers Campus we went and watched the short Little Mermaid dance show that had started due to the new live action Little Mermaid film being recently released.

We then had another look in the shop in Studio 1, Beans then headed back to our room to finish packing.
Mum, Mikey and I headed outside and joined the queue for Mickey and the Magician. While queuing Mr Incredible and Elastigirl/Mrs Incredible came past on their Scooter type vehicles.

I had been telling mum and Mikey how good Mickey and the Magician was, so was a bit worried that I may have over hyped it. We went into the theatre and found out seats, and then the magic started. We had animals come right past us, Mikey got to stroke them.

Both mum and Mikey were spellbound by how good the show was, so I was really pleased we had managed to see it.

The three of us headed back to the hotel to help Beans finish packing, I stayed in the room with Mikey while mum and Beans took our stuff to the car and Beans worked his Tetris skills to fit it all in.

As we still had a bit of time before we needed to leave we headed into the main hotel building to the Redwood Bar and Lounge, mum and I both had the 30th Anniversary champagne, originally I had planned for us to have a glass watching the fireworks the night before, and Mikey, Beans and I all had Mickey bars.

Chris, the cast member serving us, kept trying to wind Mikey up by playing with Mikey’s iPad.

We then headed to Disney Village for the final time for tea at McDonalds before going back to the car around 6pm to head to Dieppe.

Mum and Mikey were telling Beans and I all about the drones and the fireworks the night before and how amazing they were. Both of them really enjoyed it, and they had found a good spot to watch from.

Our drive back to Dieppe was a bit of a magical mystery tour as something was clearly going on with the roads, thankfully the sat-nav in Beans car is really good at changing routes when needed.

We got to the ferry port in plenty of time, checked in and were soon on the ferry. We again had bunk beds, so again took it in turns to get into pajamas, then we all went to bed.

We arrived back in Newhaven slightly later than scheduled at 5:50am, but that didn’t delay us too much. We were off the ferry and queued up at passport control.

I was glad I had done some research before going about taking family members, we were asked who Mikey was to us as he had a different surname to all of us adults. We were then asked if we had any paperwork so handed over his birth certificate and a letter from his mum confirming she had agreed to us taking him on holiday.

We stopped at McDonalds at Portsmouth for some breakfast and phoned my dad to see where he was. Unfortunately due to train strikes mum and Mikey’s train from Salisbury had been cancelled so dad had agreed to drive to Salisbury to meet us and take them home. He was already at Salisbury so we quickly finished our breakfast and headed to meet him.

At Salisbury we quickly found dad and switched mum and Mikey’s bags between cars, dad asked Mikey if he had had a good time and Mikey said he had. He can’t wait to go again.

We waved goodbye to them and Beans and I then headed to Southampton General Hospital to get my arm looked at, where they confirmed it would need surgery in a few days. In the interim they placed it in a smaller cast which was much lighter and not so warm.
