DLP 2023 – Day Three Disneyland Park

We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel this morning as I had booked for us to have a character breakfast at Plaza Gardens in Disneyland Park.

I had booked the first sitting, which is 8:15am, which is before the park opens for Extra Magic Hours. To get into the park for breakfast they have a separate queue, which is to the right of the normal queue.

We walked up Main Street and got pictures in front of an empty castle, something you can’t do when the park is open.

We then joined the queue outside Plaza Gardens, and it wasn’t long till we were inside and shown to our table. Breakfast here is again a buffet.

While eating your breakfast characters come round and interact with you, they will sign autograph books and take pictures with you. Today we had Pinocchio, Captain Hook, Tigger, Eeyore and Pluto. Mikey was so pleased to get Pluto’s autograph.

After breakfast we headed to Frontierland as I really wanted to go on my favourite ride – Phantom Manor. Mikey agreed to give it a go, when we came off he said he hadn’t liked it very much.

Originally Mikey said he would give Big Thunder Mountain a go but on seeing it he decided he didn’t want to go on it, so he went with Beans to sit down while mum and I went on it.

After that we decided on a nice relaxing boat ride and queued up to go on the paddle boat Molly Brown. This relaxing boat ride takes you around Thunder Mesa.

We then decided it was time to meet the main man, so headed to the back of the park to the Meet Mickey Mouse building. Like with the hotel meets Mikey had solo pictures with Mickey before we joined in for group pictures.

Due to the fact we had a late night planned, we were going to watch the drone and fireworks show, we decided to head back to the hotel, and have an afternoon nap.
Beans and I were again peckish so we stopped at Cable Car Bake shop on Main Street and had the Mickey sandwich.

As we came out of Cable Car Bake shop Dream and Shine Brighter was just starting so we watched it go past us, then headed back to the hotel.

Mum, Mikey and I all had an afternoon nap, Beans went to the main hotel building and sat on the deck with his iPad.

Dinner tonight was again at Hunters Grill, so we headed there for our reservation at 6:30pm.

After dinner Beans nipped back to the room to grab our camera stuff, mum and Mikey wanted to go to the bathroom so we went upstairs. On the way back down, with two steps to go, I turned my ankle and fell landing on my hand, and heard a crack.

I got mum to phone Beans to say I’d fallen, then she went to get some ice to put on my ankle and wrist.
Beans then went to get help from a cast member, they came quickly and blocked the set of stairs I’d fallen down, and got the Emergency responder to come and check me over, Michael the manager also arrived.
The emergency responder said I needed to go to the hospital, Beans said he had his car, and was asked if he would be okay to take me. Michael gave Beans the address. Beans went to get his car, and the emergency responder helped me into a wheelchair and wheeled me to the hotel entrance.

I insisted to mum and Mikey that they still had to go to the park for the nighttime show, and made sure they knew how to get there.

I was helped into Beans car, then we headed to the hospital, which thankfully was only 5 minutes away. Once we got there I had to hand over my passport and GHIC card which they photocopied. They then looked up our address on google maps and confirmed the house pictured was ours.

I was sent for an X-ray, then I was soon sent in to see a doctor. Unfortunately his English wasn’t great, and our French also wasn’t great. Thankfully Beans sister is fluent in French so we phoned her and she translated. My wrist was broken and would likely need surgery. We explained we had my mum and nephew with us so if there was anyway to get us home I could get treated there. Thankfully my ankle wasn’t broken, it was just a soft tissue injury.

They agreed to manipulate the broken bone, which was also dislocated, back into place then immobilise it so we could travel home. The doctor only agreed to do it this way if I promised to go straight to the hospital on our return to England.

I was then shown into the plaster room, where I was given gas and air. Apparently I’m very funny when I’m high.

Taking in the gas and air

Mikey sent me messages and pictures of Disney D-Light – the drone show – and then Disney Dreams Nighttime Extravaganza, which helped while we were waiting.

I was taken off gas and air and given an injection of morphine, then my wrist was manipulated back into place. The plaster I then had put on was huge. It went from my elbow to nearly my finger tips and was really thick.

Beans and I got back to the hotel around 1am, where trying to get to sleep with a cast on was difficult.
