Review – Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Lake Buena Vista

We stayed in this hotel on State Road 535 for our Orlando holiday in January 2023.

We booked via Virgin, and for us it worked out as a really good price. It meant we got to stay here for 18 nights, when we were originally looking at staying onsite at Walt Disney World for 14 nights.

It is listed as one of the Disney Good Neighbour hotel, which means they provide you with access to Walt Disney World Resort information prior to arriving at the theme parks.
They have to offer high standards, be good value and within 14 miles to Walt Disney World Resort.

There is also a complimentary daily shuttle service. We hired a car as hotel parking was free, so didn’t take the shuttle service. Having seen the timetable it was quite limited with drop off and pick up times so having the car was definitely the best thing for us as it meant we could be much more flexible.

The hotel has an outdoor pool, with Rocco’s Rockin’ Tiki Bar, a fitness centre, The Cyber Arcade, a cinema room and an on site shop. Applebee’s Grill and Bar is joined to the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel by taxi around 6pm and were greeted at reception by name. The reception are was adorned by a Christmas tree and Christmas decorations still which looked really good.

Check in was super quick and were were given a map and directed to our room. We were in the building set back and to the right (when facing the hotel), with our room located on the fourth floor.

While the corridor to the elevator looked a little bit tired, we were really pleased when we got to our room. While it was quite basic, it was a decent size.

On entering the room their was a wardrobe cupboard to your left (behind the room door when it was open), with the door to the bathroom on your right.

Next to the wardrobe cupboard was the kitchen area. There we found a sink, Keurig coffee machine (which the hotel supplied a few pods), a microwave and a decent sized fridge.

The main room area had two king sized bed, a chest of drawers with the tv on top, a small table and two dining chairs. There was also an air conditioning unit.

The bathroom comprised of a toilet, a sink set into a unit which had towel storage built in and a decent sized bath with shower. There was Dove Shampoo, Conditioner and Body wash attached to the wall.

The beds were comfortable, we decided as it was hot we would have one each, plus it meant we could both spread out.

Housekeeping wise, the beds were made daily and if we left the towels in the bath they were replaced, not always for the same size towels, but they were replaced. Toilet rolls were kept topped up, they took the rubbish daily, we didn’t have to ask for anything while we were there.

There was a car park located to the side of the building we were situated in so it took a matter of minutes to get to the car each day, and we never had an issue with parking.

The most amusing thing about our stay was the hotel hosted The Florida Super Jam, an educational balloon twisting, decorating and entertainment event. There were people in balloon dresses, and lots of balloon decorations around the hotel. It looked like it could be quite fun, we didn’t go and explore it though, we were too busy with Disney.

Overall I would definitely consider booking this hotel again. It was clean, located about 10 minute drive from Walt Disney World, super easy to get to and from, good value for money and for us it just worked. I can’t comment on what the pool was like as we didn’t use it, but it looked very nice.

We had dinner a couple of times at Applebee’s and the food was very tasty, the waitress was really friendly and it was nice and relaxed.
