We started the day in Walt Disney Studios, which is seeing a massive refurbishment in Studio 1 so you currently can’t go through there, you have to walk down the side.
We headed to Avengers Campus to attack the Spider-bots on Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure, Beans and I both scored well, with me winning 174900 to his 171300.
This was the first time riding with people we didn’t know but we didn’t let it affect us and flung our arms in wind abandon.
I then rode Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, which I have to do solo as Beans does not do coasters.
On exiting Thor and Loki were doing a performance so we stood and watched.
Again it was solo ride time, this time it was The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, I love the fact you don’t know which ride you are going to get. The photo at the top is always a cracker.
And now…..showtime. We headed to Production Courtyard to await TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure.
This production immerses you in the worlds of Toy Story, UP!, Monsters Inc, Coco and Finding Nemo. It’s a must do 30 minute show, the theatrics, choreography and music are truly out of this world.
As we were so near Avengers Campus we hit W.E.B. again, Beans had purchased one of the arm pieces you can get to help with scoring. This time he beat me 209700 to my 207000, I was super happy with this as I didn’t have an accessory to help me score.
Heading back to Disneyland Park we had a late lunch reservation at 3pm at Walt’s – an American restaurant.
The restaurant is situated on the first floor, and we could see down onto Main Street U.S.A. from the window by our table.
Here we had one of the best park meals we have ever had, for starters I had the chicken pot pie, and Beans had creamy pea soup, whipped Isigny cream and Smokey popcorn.
Mains wise we both went for chilli con carne, tortilla chips, cheddar and Isigny crème fraiche, red onion, coriander, white rice and kidney beans. The presentation was fabulous, the taste even more so.
For dessert Beans went with the lemon meringue pie and I went for the caramelised millefeuille with praline mascarpone cream, which was Steamboat Willie themed.
After lunch we decided to tackle Buzz Lightyear again, this time Beans did beat me, but no surprise there.
We then wandered around Discoveryland to the Discoveryland Theatre to watch Mickey’s PhilharMagic. This fun filled 4D animation sees Donald Duck get up to mischief.
While walking back through Discoveryland we stopped again for some laser action with Buzz, sadly Beans still didn’t get Galactic Hero. Clearly he can only get this in Walt Disney World.
Our final ride of the night was across the park in Adventureland, the good ol’ Pirates of the Caribbean. This relaxing boat ride has a few drops and plenty of plundering pirates, with a visit too from the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow.
We got into position in the central hub in front of the castle ready for Disney Tales of Magic. To get a good view you do need to prepare to get there early, even if you have purchased the reserved viewing area or have a priority pass to get a space in the accessible area, the earlier you get there the better the view.
The spectacular started at 7pm, and being January it was cold, -1 degrees Celsius while we were waiting, going down to -2 at the end of the show.
The story, projections, drones and music were exceptional, you really have to see it to believe how good it actually is.
The walk down Main Street U.S.A. afterwards was still magical, all lit up around you.
