Once up and dressed we decided today was a day for the original park. The decorations for the 70th anniversary are gorgeous and they hit you as soon as you enter. So happy we got to go during this celebration.
As we entered the park the Dapper Dans were taking a ride on the horse drawn carriage at the bottom of Main Street so we had a nice view of watching them perform.
The Halloween decorations were already gone, you would hardly know they had been there a few days previously. We were both glad we got to see them as we are both fans of Halloween.
We decided to head up Main Street to Tomorrowland for a shoot out on Buzz Lightning Astro Blasters, as usual I lost. Which really is no surprise, especially as I was up again a previous Galactic Hero. Personally I think it’s to do with seating, Beans always gets in the ride vehicles first.
It was then decided that we needed a mad chase across the galaxy on Star Tours where we escaped the Empire. Neither of us were the rebel spy, which is probably a good thing.
As it was getting hot we decided to walk around to the Monorail and took a round trip to get a small rest from the heat. You get to see some backstage areas, and Downtown Disney on the ride round.
Having cooled down we took a stroll through Fantasyland where we saw Merida, Moana and Aladdin. We also saw the band play which again were fab.
After listening to the band I managed to pictures with both Moana and Ariel, as well as their autographs..
We couldn’t go on Small World as it was getting its Christmas overlay added, a Disney trip doesn’t feel right without at least one ride on Small World, what are we going to do. Guess we will just have to book a return trip for a time when it is open.
walking back through Fantasyland I managed to get an autograph from Gepetto, while he was signing my book we saw Pinocchio walk past.
For another little break from the heat we took a lovely pirate ship flight over London and Neverland on Peter Pan’s Flight.
Both of us were starting to feel hungry so we headed to Toontown and stopped at Cafe Daisy for lunch. Both of us chose the Chicken Bacon Ranch Flop-Over which was very tasty and definitely filled the food hole.
Next up we headed to Galaxy’s Edge, where we managed to evade the Stormtroopers before following Chewie and R2D2 to Smugglers Run. We got to be the Pilots so took command of the Falcon, our crew mates did a good job during the mission. We scored pretty highly.
Carrying on round Galaxy’s Edge we headed to our next stop – Rise of the Resistance, which as always is such a great ride, the immersion on this ride is truly out of this world. The cast members definitely get into character and can be quite intimidating.
Having exited Galaxy’s Edge we took a walk past Tom Sawyers Island and then stopped off for some pictures of the castle and the partners statue. Sadly the 70th emblem was currently not on the castle as they were transitioning for Winter.
After spending some time at the castle we went to Tomorrowland and took a drive on Autopia, the fumes really get to you, but it’s still a fun ride. Even with breaking down part way round and having to be kick started. On exiting I made sure to get my driving license.
We walked back past the castle, which was now lit up for the night, and headed to Haunted Mansion.
The NBC overlay is such a good addition to this ride, almost a shame it’s only there for a few months each year. It fits in seamlessly, it could easily be there all year round, but I guess this may not make it a must do for some people, for me it was definitely a win to have ridden it with this overlay.
Having heard so much about how good the Monto Cristo Sandwich on departing our Doom Buggy we headed to our dinner reservation at Cafe Orleans.
For starter I had the Cup of chicken gumbo soup and Beans had the Caesar salad. We each went for one of the two versions of the Monte Cristo for the main – battered and fried Monte Cristo sandwich and battered and fried Triple Cheese Monte Cristo sandwich. We both had them with Pommes Frites.
Now having taken a bite or two we both found the Monte Cristo unusual, overly fried and not something we are going to repeat. It was a taste and texture that would definitely need some getting used to.
Feeling full after our dinner, we decided the best way to exit was to take the train round to Main Street, followed by a gentle walk back to the hotel where we again watched the fireworks.
